To experience the Palaung Culture, one must undertake a trek from Kalaw to surrounding Shan Hills. Along the trek, one can feel and experience their breathtakingly beautiful view of tea-leaf, orange plantations and pleasant breeze. One will certainly get refresh and can forget about mental stress. Palaung traditions include dress, music and certain celebration. There are 3 distinct Palaung tribes : Shwe Palaung (Golden Palaung ), Ngwe Palaung ( Silver Palaung ) and Palay Palaung. Shwe Palaung are so named because of their golden decorative ornaments and big gold earring. Ngwe Palaung women wear white silver belt on their waist. Palay Palaung has white cotton belt. Some Palaung dye their teeth with black colors, they also wear turbans on their heads. Men wear their traditional black jackets and black loose peggy trousers. As noted Palaung are master tea growers. They further practice agriculture and animal husbandry, go and sell products on 5 days market of Kalaw.
