Natmataung (Mt. Victoria, 3,095m) is the highest peak in Chin Hill. It is situated on Himalayas Mountain Range in the western part of the country and is 722.61 sq. km in extent. Mt. Victoria has Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Bear, Gaur, Barking Deer, Sambhur Deer, Serow, Goar, Wild Boar, Wild Dog, Gibbon, various species of Wild Cat and many species of small mammals.
Forest types are hill savannah, hill evergreen, moist upper mixed deciduous and pine forests in which only 310 species of flora have been recorded (according to Ward F.K. 1958), but it is believed many unseen species are yet to be discovered. Of these recorded species - especially Rhododendron cuffeanum and Potentilla monsvictorace can be viewed. These are all Myanmar endemic and found only in this park.
281 montance bird species have been recorded in this area. The highlight to be seen include the very rare Myanmar endemic White-browed Nuthatch, which is found only in this area. Other interesting birds that could be seen in this area are Black-bibbed Tit, Broad-billed Warbler, Chinese Babax, Brown-capped Laughingthrush, Grey Sibia, Yellow-breasted Greenfinch and Fire-tailed Sunbird inhabit Mt. Victoria. In addition one can also trek to the peak of Mt. Victoria by various ways. Some easily accessible and others comprised of difficult jungle trails that pass through the fantastic landscapes of Chin hilly region and the villages of the Chin hill tribes in the natural forests.
Besides, at least 77 species of butterfly (especially rare Bhutan Glory Bhutanitis ledderdalei) can be viewed.
Of added interest is the experience of interacting with endemic people, including Chin tribes who continue the practice of facial tattooing.
The best time to go is from late October to mid of May.
